چکیده

Enantiomer separation represents an important topic especially in pharmaceutical and environmental fields where many drugs and pesticides are racemic compounds. In some cases, only one of the enantiomers has pharmacological or pesticidal activity while the other may exhibit antagonistic activities, unwanted side effects or even toxic effects. Therefore, the development of new enantioseparation methods with high efficiency and sensitivity is of great interest for monitoring the stereoselective synthesis of enantiomers, pharmacological studies, enantiomeric purity control, environmental investigations, etc. Capillary electrophoresis (CE) has proven to be an effective technique for chiral separation. As a complementary method to chromatographic techniques such as gas chromatography, liquid chromatography and more recently supercritical fluid chromatography. CE has some general merits including impressive peak efficiency, flexibility regarding choice of the chiral selectors and operating conditions, environmental friendliness, minimum consumption of reagents and samples, fast analysis with low cost, etc.

Improvement of Capillary Electrophoretic Enantioseparation of Fluoxetine by a Cationic Additive

One of the problems encountered in CE separations of basic compounds is the adsorption of analytes onto the negatively charged capillary wall which could lead to poor repeatability of migration time and peak area. Additionally, separation of enantiomers of chiral of basic drugs is commonly carried out in low pH buffer which contributes to strong ionic interaction of the cationic drug ions with ...

Designed combination of chiral selectors for adjustment of enantioseparation selectivity in capillary electrophoresis.

In this study an attempt has been made to explain the reasons for changing the enantioseparation selectivity in some dual cyclodextrin (CD) systems compared to the use of single chiral selectors in capillary electrophoresis (CE). An explanation for selectivity changes is proposed based on the effect of the chiral selector on the mobility of the analyte. In order to support the proposed mechanis...

Application of Guanidine Hcl to Improve Enantioseparation of a Model Basic Drug, Cetirizine, By Capillary Electrophoresis Using Sulfated Β-Cyclodextrin

A common approach in resolving enantiomers of chiral basic drugs by capillary electrophoresis (CE) is to use cyclodextrins (especially their anionic derivatives) as chiral selector in the acidic buffer (pH ≤ 3) in normal or reversed (carrier) mode. Then, some organic modifiers are added to the buffer solution if the resolution is not satisfactory. In case of cetirizine (CTN), applying the same ...
